Loose Play at Dalry

The nursery, teaching and PSA team enjoyed some staff training in the sunshine to learn about the benefits of open ended creative Loose Play with Louise Caldwell (Play Development Officer).

We are all looking forward to developing this initiative with pupils, parents and staff over the course of this year.

MOVING ON UP DAY
All our children ‘moving on up’ to Primary 1 in August were invited to our special transition morning on Thursday 15th June. The children took part in an activity and later went to the classrooms for a story with the Primary 1 teachers Miss Bacigalupo and Miss Milne. Our Head Teacher, Mrs Honeyman and Depute Head Teacher, Miss Kelly, spoke to parents about our school and Primary 1. Refreshments were provided by the Parent Council and our local Health Visitors, Toy Library, Dental Health Service and Gingerbread After School Care all had stalls providing information for parents.

P1a Planting

Primary 1A have been learning about growing plants.

They planted seeds and some seedlings in the playground and have been watering them and checking on them each week.

It has been very exciting seeing the changes that the plants have made. Hopefully we will have broad beans, lettuce and pumpkins to enjoy soon.

P1 Community Litter Pick

Primary 1 did a community litter pick with the help of some parents and members of Dalry community. Well done to everyone who helped.

The children in primary 1, with the support of parents and members of our community, worked really hard to make our street and playground litter free.

Afterwards, the children learned about landfill sites, recycling, reducing and composting in a litter workshop.
