Phonics Resources for Parents

We have recently added a new area to our parent zone pages hosting phonics resources for parents and carers to try out with their children at home.

You’ll find it here.

These resources include posters of all the letter sounds for you to work on reading and saying at home , great songs and videos to help learning and an audio catalogue of all the basic letter sounds.

When we teach in school we do so using the sounds of the letters rather than their names. We would encourage you to use these resources to help you to do the same at home.

Please check back to our phonics resources area often for new resources including common words (the, they, their etc) and digraphs of other common sounds in English (th, ck, sh etc).

P1B Visit the Library

P1B have a school library time every Wednesday at 2-2.30pm.

They enjoyed their first visit and explored all the different books available.

They will soon be able to choose a book to take home to share with their family and return it the following week so that they are able to select another

P1B Explorers

Primary 1B have been exploring their school.

They found out that there is a library , music/drama room, a computer suite and a Confucius hub.

They also interviewed Mr Wilson who told them all about his job. Can you guess what he does?

Toy Library

This week over 30 parents/carers and children visited Gorgie/Dalry Toy Library based at St Martin’s Church, Dalry Road (just along the road from the school).

The Library has over 250 toys for 0 year – 8 year old children to borrow.  We found out how to join the library, access their borrowers catalogue on-line and played with some of their toys.

The Library is open every Monday from 10am – 11.30am.  There is also a toddler group called Little Martian’s at the same time.  Everyone is welcome – just come along!
