Please find attached the end of term newsletter from Mrs Honeyman.

While it does contain the list of new teachers for next session there are  also reveal videos coming by parent mail today and listed below, so you may wish to save the news of who your child’s teacher is until they watch that video.

If you are in the year P1 currently (including those P1s in P1/2) then please check your email for your class next year and correct video.

Home Learning for Week Commencing 22nd June

Before  We Give You The Home Learning…

…be sure to check back here on Tuesday for the unveiling of the Dalry’s Got Talent 2020 showreel. Mrs Ewen is working super hard to process all the amazing entries for us.

And do look out for summer fun suggestions for home activities both in the list below and through the week.

New Teacher Videos

We normally have a special moment in school each year, where the children move class for half a day to meet their new teacher. This year we can’t do that but you can meet the new teacher at home.

New teacher reveal videos have been made by the teachers and Mr Bennett and will be out on Monday in the newsletter and by parent mail. To share in the fun be sure to watch them with your child BEFORE telling them who their teacher is.

If you are in P1 or P1/2 also be sure to wait for the email so you get the right classes. All other classes are moving up in the obvious manner (P2a becomes P3a, P4/5 becomes P5/6 etc) so when the list comes watch the video with your child before telling them who their new teacher is!

Here are the Home Learning Grids and Documents for this week.

Books and Resources, and Personal Belongings Reminder

Hopefully all families have seen the parent pay email requesting that certain resources are returned to school this week and also regarding pickup of personal items.

Resources

This is just a reminder that we need all reading books, textbooks and other literature to be returned to the school this week so that we can redistribute them to the new classes in August.

If you have had a specific resource allocated to your family to support particular learning needs do also check your email for messages regarding return of these.

If you are unsure please either ask your class teacher on twitter or email admin@dalry.edin.sch.uk

Personal Belongings

Again this is hopefully a reminder that personal belongings of the children that were left in school are ready for collection. You should have been contacted if there is something for you.

Any uncollected items will need to be disposed of at the end of this week.

Collection and Drop Off

The school is open during normal hours this week for collection of belongings and drop off of resources only. Please follow all general social distancing guidelines from the Scottish government on the day and all specific instructions on site. If it is busy you may need to queue for a few minutes.

Roots of Empathy End of Year Lockdown Update

Harry’s doing really well. He had his first birthday at the end of May and he had a zoom party with his family and friends, which he loved. He got lots of lovely presents including a toy piano with his name on it and a toy London Bus. He really enjoyed eating some of his birthday cake too. He’s getting very inquisitive and adventurous and loves being chased round the lounge. He’s not walking on his own yet but he can stand on his own, so he’s getting stronger all the time. He also knows his favourite teddy is called ‘Monkey Dee’. When I ask him to find it he scuttles across the floor and grabs him from out of the toy box. We still only have two teeth but Harry has been a little grumpy at night recently so I think more teeth will emerge soon. Harry really misses his Dalry primary buddies and hope they have a lovely summer. He hopes he can visit them soon!
Jamie turned 1 at the beginning of June which was an exciting day for us all. He enjoyed opening his gifts and playing with the wrapping paper! In the last month he has become very independent, his little character is really showing through. He knows what he likes!!
He eats almost every food, especially broccoli, strawberries and raspberries. He even eats olives!
Jamie is now standing for long periods of time on his own however he hasn’t started to walk yet. It will happen soon!! He had his one year vaccinations this week which help to keep him safe. He misses you all and sends his love xx

Reminder-Final Home Learning Survey

You should have received our final home learning survey of 2019/20 by parent pay email earlier this week.

This is a Parent Survey to let us know what has worked well in lockdown, what needs to be improved and how the school can support you when schools reopen in August.
