Flu Immunisation

Our Flu immunisation day is earlier than in recent years on Monday 27th September.

NHS Scotland particularly recommend all children recieve their flu vaccine this year because.

Flu can be serious , even for healthy children.

This reduces the risk of children spreading flu to friends and family

To help prevent flu adding to the strain on NHS services, especially alongside of COVID-19 this winter

The vaccine is given in school as a painless nasal (nose) spray, by the local NHS team.

Label Your Clothes and Bring Appropriate Clothing

Image
Even unique style choices can get mixed up.

We’re only 3 days into term and we already have a mound of lovely, brand new, lost property building up.

Sadly lots of it is unlabelled so we can’t save you the trouble of searching and reunite it for you.

Please remember with uniform, and even without, many of the children have identical items of clothing so writing a name inside in permanent fabric marker, embroidering a name or sewing in a tag is vital.

Also please remember that a coat is vital every day with Edinburgh’s variable weather.

P1/2 and P2 Roots of Empathy News

P1/2 Miss McDermot’s class and P2 Miss McArthur’s class completed their Roots of Empathy program with instructor Mrs Harris-Toner. Each week the children enjoyed getting to know Baby Alan and seeing how he was changing and growing. We connected with our Roots of Empathy family through wonderful photos, videos, news and voice messages sent by his mum Jordan.

The lessons gave the children an opportunity to share their feelings and experiences. The children’s especially enjoyed the art activities and thinking of their wishes for Baby Alan as he grows up. Last week the children were delighted to receive their well deserved certificates.

Proud of Scotland

Dalry Primary all united to watch Scotland on Monday and while the result wasn’t what we wanted the children were proud of seeing Sotland represented on the big stage.

They also got a mini pie and a mini pint (of fruit juice!) at half time.

Let’s hope Scotland can qualify still and good luck to all our families and staff supporting other teams in the tournament.

Busy week in P1/2

Another busy week in P1/2!We’ve been using our numicon in maths to park on ordering and have also started addition.
Our caterpillars have been eating a lot and have formed cocoons. Sadly one of them died but he was buried in our playground.
We have transferred them to our net and are keeping a close eye on them, waiting for the hatch into beautiful butterflies!

Generation Science and P1/2

P1/2 were very lucky to take part in an online workshop courtesy of Generation Science. We heard the story of Ella who could feel her voice “wobbling” when she spoke or sang. We explored vibration and sound and had a go at making some animal sounds ourselves. We created a Seagull Squeaker and a Squirrel Shaker. The children worked in pairs to create them. They had a brilliant time!

Outdoor art for P1/2

P1/2 explored form in our outdoor art session last week. The children worked in groups to take turns drawing each other’s outlines using chalk. They then filled the outlines with colours and drawings reflecting what they feel is important to them.
