This month P2 is has been finding out about how babies sleep and how important sleep is for the baby and parents. We have had a another visit from Arthur and his mum Miss Younger and the children were excited to see Arthur and see how much he is grown since we last weighed and measured him in November last year. Miss Younger shared with the children Arthur’s sleep pattern and what how she knows when he is feeling sleepy and needs a nap. Also that as he is so young and doing a lot of growing, he needs more sleep than the P2s need and we all require different circumstances to help us have a good sleep.
P2 really enjoyed learning about the different sleep cycles of REM and non-REM sleep and the different transitional objects that soothe babies and help them sleep. The children have enjoyed sharing their experiences and how they sleep and their favourite toy or blanket that helps them to fall sleep. In addition the children discovered how parents safely put their babies down to sleep on their backs, how temperament and routine is different for every baby.

Heriot Watt university are holdling a family fun day on Saturday 13th April.
The children in the nursery have been very interested in ‘shops’ and money.
They have been visiting several shops in the Gorgie/Dalry area where they had the opportunity to buy things including purses, hardware and plants, using real money!
P1C have enjoyed baking gingerbread men as part of their Fairy Land learning.
We held very successful Parents Consultations this week in school. The teachers, pupils and parents enjoyed learning conversations about the children’s progress and next steps.
The Pupil Council set up a very popular Healthy Snack stall to promote good choices for playtime snacks and also to include in lunch boxes.
Our P6 and P7 pupils consulted our parents on our new school vision, values and aims, as well as our teaching of languages at Dalry Primary School.
I read “The Accidental Time Traveller” by Janis Mackay.
It is about a girl called Agatha. Her and her father live in 1813 basically they live in Victorian times. Her father accidentally time travelled her to 2013 she gets lost in time but she meets a boy. He tries to help her get back home.
It was very good.

I have read “The Midnight Gang” and it was written by David Walliams.
There’s a boy who makes friends and joins in a gang which tries to make other people’s dreams come true. It is like Gangsta Granny and other David Walliams books. It was good because it was different from what I’ve read before.
I recommend this book to people who like animation or some pictures for representing the writing if not understood.

I have read “The School for Good and Evil: A World Without Princes” by Soman Chainani.
It is about two girls how have been captured to go to a school which had once been The School for Good and Evil but is now the school for boys and girls. It is like nothing I have read before.
I recommend this book to people who like interesting books.
