P1’s Hungry Friends

Primary 1s have been busy over the last few weeks learning about the butterfly life cycle and the story of the Hungry Caterpillar. We retold the story of the Hungry Caterpillar using pictures and we drew pictures of different  insects in the playground! We have created a lovely display where we hang our jackets of the Butterfly Life Cycle. Well done P1s!

Nursery to P1 Transition- Moving Up Talk

Given COVID safety we can’t do our usual talks for families on the moving up process this year.

Instead we have the power point (with audio notes) linked below.

Hopefully any questions you have about starting P1 will be answered and you’ll learn more about the fun of starting school at Dalry.

Busy week in P1/2

Another busy week in P1/2!We’ve been using our numicon in maths to park on ordering and have also started addition.
Our caterpillars have been eating a lot and have formed cocoons. Sadly one of them died but he was buried in our playground.
We have transferred them to our net and are keeping a close eye on them, waiting for the hatch into beautiful butterflies!

Generation Science and P1/2

P1/2 were very lucky to take part in an online workshop courtesy of Generation Science. We heard the story of Ella who could feel her voice “wobbling” when she spoke or sang. We explored vibration and sound and had a go at making some animal sounds ourselves. We created a Seagull Squeaker and a Squirrel Shaker. The children worked in pairs to create them. They had a brilliant time!

Outdoor art for P1/2

P1/2 explored form in our outdoor art session last week. The children worked in groups to take turns drawing each other’s outlines using chalk. They then filled the outlines with colours and drawings reflecting what they feel is important to them.

Alien Activity Detected at Dalry Primary

There was great excitement in P5/6 as an alien space craft appeared to have crash-landed in the school playground! Pupils were thrilled to investigate the crash site and we generated some amazing ideas for our Space IDL topic and our creative writing.

Continuing the outdoor theme, we had great fun working in teams to track down fun facts about space during our Space Scavenger Hunt.

More on the alien to follow!
