Primary 4 have been enjoying the activities relating to The Vikings topic they are learning about. Muhannad led the learning when he showed the class how to make 3D boats. They have also made their own Viking brooch out of clay.

but they were all Dalry days.
P5 has been working hard all year towards their Discovery level John Muir Award. Pupils have to discover and explore a wild place. We visited Corstorphine Hill on a number of days during the year. They had to help with a conservation activity and for this the class helped sow a wildflower meadow in Murieston Park which will come into flower in July or August – feel free to visit! Finally the had to share their learning with others. The class has had a lot of fun and led an assembly on 10th June to share what they had done. Well done all!

Our Pre-school children enjoyed a lovely day out at the Botanic Gardens exploring nature and wildlife, enjoying snack and lunch togehter and rounded the day off with a visit to the play Park at Inverleith Park. Thank you to all the parents who came with us and made this trip possible.
The whole school managed to enjoy Sports Day in the playground this morning before the rain started!
A huge thanks to Mr Devine who had everything organised for Sports Day at Tynecastle High School, and adjusted his plans in light of the yellow weather warning for rain. He did a brilliant job of reorganising the potted sports stations in a much smaller space. Thank you to the P7s who helped with the lower school activities. A huge thanks to all staff who adjusted (or gave up their breaks) to allow this to happen in such a tight timescale.

Today’s Sports Day has been cancelled due to wet conditions and heavy overnight rain.
It will now take place next wednesday, 12th June.
Recently P2 have been keeping caterpillars in class to learn about life cycles (click here to see our last post).
Recently they entered their chrysalis phase.
This week they emerged as butterflies!
New English as a second language classes for adults are being offered at Tynecastle Community Wing.
There are two new classes – an additional pre-intermediate/intermediate group with creche on Tuesdays 9.30 – 11.30 and a complete beginner class also on Tuesday 11.30 – 13.30.
