Our children who will start P1 enjoyed a very exciting Moving Up Day with their parents in the hall, before enjoying some time in their new classrooms. They all left with a decorated box of goodies to help them get ready for P1 over the summer break.

Our Pre-school children enjoyed a lovely day out at the Botanic Gardens exploring nature and wildlife, enjoying snack and lunch togehter and rounded the day off with a visit to the play Park at Inverleith Park. Thank you to all the parents who came with us and made this trip possible.
Mrs Mushtaq will be delivering a drop in session to Dalry nursery parents who have English as an Additional Language on how to support the use of their home language and English acquisition on Tuesday 18th June from 9 – 10 am in SfL room.

After a lovely Easter Break and some truly FANTASTIC weather all the children have settled happily back at nursery. They have been keen to help staff set up and then enjoy some of our lovely new resources including a very special and relaxing story house, a refurnished creative area, a brand new mud kitchen, our very own water wall and lots of other smaller, but wonderful, items such as an outdoor clock and new tools and utensils for our sand, planting and mud kitchen areas. And we now have a great BIG shed to store everything safely overnight, during the weekends and holidays!
The children have been involved in every stage of the planning, selection and the layout of their playground and monies from the school’s outdoor learning fund, and the very generous donations you all make to our toy fund, which enabled us to purchase these items.
Finally, we would all like to thank the children, staff, and our janitor Mrs Smith for her help and in particular Mr Fituch, dad of Matylda (in the nursery) and Nell (Primary 4) for all his time and hard work!
The children in the nursery have been very interested in ‘shops’ and money.
They have been visiting several shops in the Gorgie/Dalry area where they had the opportunity to buy things including purses, hardware and plants, using real money!
To celebrate World Book day we had lovely trips to Fountainbridge Library where we listened to stories, sang songs, made our own bookmarks and had a tasty snack! Thank you to all the parents who joined us on the trip and of course the library staff!
We enjoyed tasting Chinese Foods, learning more about the Chinese Zodiac, and other Chinese customs, and made our own willow plates, dragons and pandas!
We enjoyed a Burns meal of ‘haggis, neeps and tatties’, had a ceilidh with our friends in Primary 6 and Miss Curran and Liz the librarian from Fountainbridge Library came to read us Scottish stories and sing Scottish Song. We had a ‘braw’ time!
P6 went to a ceilidh with the nursery on Burns day at St.Martins. All the kids had a fantastic time and really enjoyed helping the little ones.
