We invited all family members and friends to join us for some fun at the Dalry Nursery Class ‘BIG SING’ Tuesday 17th September 9.00am  for the GREEN YELLOW BLUE GROUPS and Thursday 19th September 9.00am for the RED  PURPLE ORANGE GROUPS.

We sang some of our favourite songs with Yousouf Gooljary, St Martin’s Church rector, joining us with his guitar!

Reading Rainbows Nursery Trip to Fountainbridge Library

All Pre-school children were invited to a very special READING RAINBOWS TRIP  TO FOUNTAINBRIDGE LIBRARY.
Mo, the librarian, read two stories ‘This Zoo is Not for You’ and ‘Every Bunny Counts’.
We enjoyed tasty snacks and drinks, made our own bus, and everyone was presented with a wonderful Reading Rainbows Book Bag which contained the books we had enjoyed listening to and other treats.
Thank you to the library for hosting this event and to all the parents who came with us and made this trip possible.

BREAD MAKING IN THE NURSERY

This week we were joined by Christine Eccles for RHET (Royal Highland Education Trust) who taught us how to make bread.  She brought some real wheat for us to look at and we ground the grain into flour.  Then we mixed, pounded and starched out our dough before shaping it into rolls which we left to rise before baking.  AND we got to take our tasty bread home. YUMMMY!

See our EASY bread recipe attached.

The RHET also run the Royal Highland Show at Ingliston which makes a great day out for children and families to visit.  Ingliston is near Edinburgh Airport on the 300 bus and tram route.

Our Fabulous Early Level Playground

After a lovely Easter Break and some truly FANTASTIC weather all the children have settled happily back at nursery.  They have been keen to help staff set up and then enjoy some of our lovely new resources including a very special and relaxing story house, a refurnished creative area, a brand new mud kitchen, our very own water wall and lots of other smaller, but wonderful, items such as an outdoor clock and new tools and utensils for our sand, planting and mud kitchen areas.  And we now  have a great BIG shed to store everything safely overnight, during the weekends and holidays!

The children have been involved in every stage of the planning, selection and  the layout of their playground and monies from the school’s outdoor learning fund, and the very generous donations you all make to our toy fund, which enabled us to purchase these items.

Finally, we would all like to thank the children, staff, and our janitor Mrs Smith for her help and in particular Mr Fituch, dad of Matylda (in the nursery) and Nell (Primary 4) for all his time and hard work!
