We celebrated Christmas in the nursery with a ‘Family Party!’ We played party games, had lots of lovely food to eat, raffled a Gingerbread House and when Santa arrived we all visited him in his Winter Wonderland Grotto. What a great afternoon we had.

Before the break our Nursery celebrated a musical, colourful, wonderful Diwali at Dalry!

All the nursery children had the opportunity to visit Gorgie Farm during the week
We saw amazing things growing in their garden and greenhouses. Look at the runner beans, leeks and tomatoes we saw.
We also looked at the farm animals and enjoyed our snack together.
Some of us went swimming, we had a Big Sing with Mrs Ewen, the school music teacher and many of our parents joined us and also a Harvest Celebration, with David at St Martin’s Church, from where all our donations will be shared with people in need in our community.
This week over 30 parents/carers and children visited Gorgie/Dalry Toy Library based at St Martin’s Church, Dalry Road (just along the road from the school).
The Library has over 250 toys for 0 year – 8 year old children to borrow. We found out how to join the library, access their borrowers catalogue on-line and played with some of their toys.
The Library is open every Monday from 10am – 11.30am. There is also a toddler group called Little Martian’s at the same time. Everyone is welcome – just come along!
The children at the nursery collected the apples from our apple tree.
The apples were then made into tasty apple crisps and a delicious apple cake which we then used to celebrate a birthday!
The nursery children are ‘Edinburgh Festival Goers!
We enjoyed the sights and sounds of the Edinburgh Festival as some of us visited the Royal Mile and attended a show.
Many of our nursery class have been enjoying their lunch at school this week. There has been lots of learning as part of this experience, and it is a very sociable time for both adults and children alike
We were joined by over 280 children and family members for our end of year Family Party. What fun we had playing games, dancing, eating party foo and playing with bubbles!
All children starting Primary 1 at Dalry Primary School in August were invited to our very special ‘Moving On Up’ day with their families. The children enjoyed a creative activity followed by a visit to our Primary 1 classrooms while parents and carers learned more about how our school supports all children to make a successful transition to Primary 1. St Martin’s Toy Library, the Childsmile Dental Health team, local Health Visitors and Gingerbread After School Care were also available to provide information about the services they provide and refreshments were provided by the Parent Council.
