P6 went to a ceilidh with the nursery on Burns day at St.Martins. All the kids had a fantastic time and really enjoyed helping the little ones.

The Sorries Assembly
On Monday we had our brilliant annual visit from folk duo The Sorries in celebration of Scots Week. This was arranged in conjunction with Soundstep workshops who also provided a bodhran drumming workshop for P7 and P3/4.
Thank you to The Sorries, Soundstep Workshops and to all of our student performers.
They led us all in traditional folk songs and were ably supported by singers from some of our classes.
We finished with a great whole school rendition of Auld Lang Syne
P7 Dungeons and Dragons Lunch Club
Some of our P7s have organised their own Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) club, led by Dungeon Master Adam.
Yesterday they were creating characters.
You can play D&D with little more than a few dice, paper and pencils.
It features maths, story writing and emotional learning.
You can try it yourself using information easily found online.
Good luck on your quests D&D club.
Masterclasses
A new block of Master Classes started last Friday. The children chose from a wide selection of skills based classes such as fitness, dance, cooking, yoga, relaxation, traditional card games, Chinese crafts, painting, chess and Lego construction. Masterclasses will continue 3 Fridays out of 4.
Man For All Reasons- Employment and Training conference for Men seeking Support Starting Careers in Childcare, Teaching, Nursing Etc.
A conference will be taking place at the Apex hotel in the Grassmarket on January 30th. The aim will be to focus on the importance of gender balance in the workforce for childcare, nursing, teaching and social services.

Free Mandarin and Science Fun at the Zoo
We’ve received the following information from the Confucius institute.
FREE Zoo Fun with Mandarin family day course – On Saturday 16th February at RZSS Edinburgh Zoo, our science specialist Confucius Classroom is holding a one day family course to learn some basic Mandarin. Suitable for 8 years to adult but these are family sessions and children must be accompanied by an adult. You will be learning Mandarin while also learning about our animals and RZSS projects. The course runs from 10.15am-3.30pm. There will be short breaks between sessions to spend time in the zoo. Details of programme are available. Limited numbers and booking is essential.
Free Robots Fun Day the Museum
The National Museum Scotland is having a robotics fun day this Saturday.
Why not go along and try out controlling a robot.
Marty, which we have at Dalry, will be on display alongside Spheros and other robot fun.
