The whole school enjoyed a performance from ESRE (Edinburgh Schools Rock Ensemble) on Friday 14th June. The band are made up of talented musicians and singers from across the High Schools in Edinburgh. We learned about the instruments in the band and listened to a selection of songs from the bands latest set. The children loved singing along to Sunshine on Leith.

Mrs Honeyman was especially proud of her son Aidan. who plays lead guitar with the group.

P4 Book and Bake sale on Wednesday 26th

P4 & P4/3 are going to have a book & bake sale as part of their ‘running a business enterprise’ & ‘Make a Difference’ topic. The plan is to have it on the morning of Wednesday 26th June in P4 & P4/3’s classroom. (One room will sell books and the other room will sell the cakes.) We are hoping to raise money for 2 local charities, Gorgie FarmGorgie Food Bank.

If you would like your child to buy cake or books do send some cash in on the 26th.

P5 John Muir Award Assembly

P5 has been working hard all year towards their Discovery level John Muir Award.  Pupils have to discover and explore a wild place.  We visited Corstorphine Hill on a number of days during the year.  They had to help with a conservation activity and for this the class helped sow a wildflower meadow in Murieston Park which will come into flower in July or August – feel free to visit!  Finally the had to share their learning with others.  The class has had a lot of fun and led an assembly on 10th June to share what they had done.  Well done all!

URGENT- SPORTS DAY CHANGES

With a yellow weather warning in place for rain we will unfortunately have to cancel sports day at Tynecastle.

We are going to try to go ahead with a much smaller scale event using out hall and playground. If we need to call off because the rain becomes too heavy we will move the children and equipment indoors.

We are sorry that we have had to make so many changes.

Sports day Update

Here is an update on sports day.

We are still hoping to go ahead with Sports Day tomorrow at Tynecastle High School Astro turf pitches. However the weather forecast for tomorrow looks like rain. If there is rain overnight or early tomorrow the Astroturf will be too slippy for the pupils. Please ensure your child has a waterproof jacket and a labelled water bottle with them. Children should wear full length joggers or leggings and a long sleeved top if possible to protect themselves in case they fall on the AstroTurf pitches.

Parents are welcome to attend the event, and it would be helpful if they can accompany the class teachers as they walk to and from the school.

P1 to P3 will leave school at around 9.10AM and return to school around 11.30AM

P3/4 to P7 will leave school at around 1.20PM and return to school at around 3.15PM

In the event that we have to cancel the event due to bad weather we will inform the parents by txt message before the school day
