Poppy in P4 recently entered the EE Mini Movie Makers contest and she was the second in her category.
She won her a trip to the BAFTAs last Sunday as a red carpet reporter! Poppy got to enter many big movie stars at the BAFTAs including Colin Farrell, Brendon Gleason, Brendon Fraser, Naomi Ackie and Andy Serkis!

P2 celebrated Lunar New Year by learning the Chinese Zodiac story and making paper lanterns which they decorated with rabbits as it is the year of the rabbit.

The pupils chose to start learning about measure by exploring length and height. They problem solved which measuring tool would be best to measure each item. A ruler for smaller objects and a metre stick or measuring tape for longer or taller objects.
We explored height and length in the playground as well as measuring how far the pupils could jump. This was tricky as many pupils could jump further than a metre!
In the classroom the pupils drew around a friend then measured different parts of their body. They had to write the lengths/height in centimetres (CM).

Primary 7 enjoyed an interfaith workshop, which was promoting tolerance and respect between different religious groups. The class really enjoyed the session.

We enjoyed a visit from the Greggs Foundation and LDC who are supporting us to continue to run a free breakfast club for our parents and pupils at Dalry Primary School. Lynne, Hannah and Lee all enjoyed eating breakfast and chatting to our children about how breakfast club helps them to get to school on time and be ready to learn.

Recently the P2’s have been learning about emotional literacy, to identify, name and feel comfortable about discussing emotions. They have discovered that emotions are not good or bad, but pleasant or unpleasant. Also that everyone experiences the same emotions and that our temperament and personalities influences how we deal with them.
The children have thoroughly enjoyed our family visits with Oliver, and his mum Sally they recognised and named baby Oliver’s emotional cues and facial expressions. How Sally reads Oliver’s emotional cues to meet his needs and he feels understood. The children really enjoyed their visit, asking Sally lots of questions and sharing her experiences. The children sang songs for Oliver including Wind the Bobbin Up, Baa Baa Black Sheep and Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. Oliver really enjoyed the children’s singing and actions to the songs.
We also talked about different types of teasing and bullying behaviour, how this makes us feel and how talking about our emotions can help us manage them. Also the children created artwork and discussed how they can help their friends when they are sad.
