Jim Douglas Citizenship Award 2019

A new award was presented at leavers assembly this year.

Created by the family of Jim Douglas, a former Dalry pupil who left Edinburgh to become a leading publisher in Canada, the award celebrates outstanding contribution to the school from a pupil in P5-7 who has embodied our school values:

Together we are respectful, included, responsible and kind.

The inaugural recipient was Aoife in P6.

Well done Aoife!

Our New Playground Mural is Finished

Our amazing new playground mural is finished. Our art club have worked so hard on it with the support of artist Damian Callan. Damian and the club has been working with Mrs Dong and children in P6 and P7 to create a mural which celebrates our links with Scotland and China.

We hope to see it installed by the next school year.

Eid and End of Term Family Meal

Pupils, parents and staff all enjoyed a wonderful Eid and end of term celebration after school on Tuesday.

The hall was packed, and there were lots of delicious treats for everyone to taste from around the globe.

We had amazing activities too from archery to balloon modelling

Thank you to all of the parents who helped and to the parent council who organised.

Thank you also to local businesses Pizzeria 1926, Saltyard and Vegware (who supplied all of the biodegradable cutlery and crockery).

ESRE

The whole school enjoyed a performance from ESRE (Edinburgh Schools Rock Ensemble) on Friday 14th June. The band are made up of talented musicians and singers from across the High Schools in Edinburgh. We learned about the instruments in the band and listened to a selection of songs from the bands latest set. The children loved singing along to Sunshine on Leith.

Mrs Honeyman was especially proud of her son Aidan. who plays lead guitar with the group.
