P7 Tynecastle High School Transition Visit

Primary  7 had a really successful and exciting visit to Tynecastle High school this week! We were given the opportunity to make Key rings in CDT and make some delicious Chow Mein in Home Economics! The class also began to complete their My World of Work profiles which will guide them in understanding and choosing possible career paths and suggest school subjects which would support them in their career choices.

P1/2 Christmas Decorators

P1/2 have been busy preparing the classroom for Christmas. The children wanted to build their own Christmas tree and decided on old cardboard boxes as the best material. We painted the boxes green and stacked them up high. Then we added our decorations. Shiny bottle tops, Christmas wrapping paper cutouts and old tinsel all helped to make the tree look absolutely fantastic.

We are all feeling very festive now!

Nursery EAL Support Advice Meeting

SUPPORTING YOU EAL CHILD

(English as an Additional Language)

TUESDAY 3rd DECEMBER 2.00pm- 2.45pm

Mrs Samina Mustaq, our specialist EAL teacher, met with parents whose children have English as an additional language.

She provided advice and answered many questions about how parents u can support their child’s language development in more than one language.  The main advice is keep your home language alive by using it!  This will help develop connections in your child’s brain between English and their home language/s, build on your emotional relationship with them and enable them to speak to other members of the family and language community too!

Don’t forget to join the City of Edinburgh Library too, where you can order books and other resources in many different languages for both adults and children.
