P2A have been really enjoying the first couple of lessons within their Mandarin block this term. We have been learning to count to ten in Mandarin and playing lots of fun games to help us remember them. It has been great spending time in our lovely Confucius classroom!
As part of our Scotland topic we have been learning some of the key skills involved in Scottish country dancing. We can all now dance a simple reel together and have really enjoyed listening to Scottish music during these sessions. We have loved teaming up with Blythe boys and girls from P1. Miss Low is a fantastic caller and coach!
Primary 1/2 have been learning how to play tennis! We have learnt how to handle balls and rackets and have even had a go at playing tennis matches!
It has been Scots week all week at Dalry Primary.
We had our Scots week visit from The Sorries who taught some of our classes the bodhran and then performed a show of traditional Scottish songs for us.

We started the New Year with a bang and launched our new STEM masterclasses. The children from P3 to P7 enjoyed a wide choice of STEM activities including coding, pixel art, robotics, puppet making, cooking, baking, clay model making, ICT games, Stop Motion Animation, weaving, Hammabead design, Garage Band and chess. We were fortunate to be joined by our STEM ambassador Colin and supporters from our local building Scottish Building society, as well as school volunteers and Allessandra our newest JET student.

As part of our Scotland focus in class, P2 have been model making and have created these wonderful play dough models of Nessie. Have you ever spotted Nessie up in Loch Ness?
Early years learning and childcare is expanding. Children under 5 will have a much larger free provision.

Tynecastle parent and carer council warmly invites everyone to our annual Burns’ Night celebration on Friday 24th January from 7pm-10.30pm.
The Burns Supper is a big part of our annual fundraising calendar. We have musical performances from our Pipe Band, musicians and Highland Dancers plus some poetry and traditional speeches from staff and senior pupils, before some delicious food and then ceilidh dancing. It’s a fantastic night.
We are especially keen to welcome those who have never been to a Burns’ Night before!
