STEM Masterclasses

We started the New Year with a bang and launched our new STEM masterclasses. The children from P3 to P7 enjoyed a wide choice of STEM activities including coding, pixel art, robotics, puppet making, cooking, baking, clay model making, ICT games, Stop Motion Animation, weaving, Hammabead design, Garage Band and chess. We were fortunate to be joined by our STEM ambassador Colin and supporters from our local building Scottish Building society, as well as school volunteers and Allessandra our newest JET student.

Thanks to everyone for making week one a big success!

Scots Music Sessions for P2a

P2A enjoyed our first Scots music session with our visitor Alyssa last week.  We had great fun learning different rhymes and songs as well as doing our own Highland dancing to the music.
We look forward to more singing and dancing over the next few weeks.

You Are Cordially Invited to Tynecastle Burns Supper…

Tynecastle parent and carer council warmly invites everyone to our annual Burns’ Night celebration on Friday 24th January from 7pm-10.30pm.

The Burns Supper is a big part of our annual fundraising calendar. We have musical performances from our Pipe Band, musicians and Highland Dancers plus some poetry and traditional speeches from staff and senior pupils, before some delicious food and then ceilidh dancing. It’s a fantastic night.

We are especially keen to welcome those who have never been to a Burns’ Night before!

Tickets will be available from the school office or by registering on the link below, for a suggested donation of £5 per adult or £1 for students/children.

Lion King Ticket Donation

Last Thursday Mrs Honeyman received a very exciting phone call at Dalry Primary to tell us that 100 tickets to last night’s performance of The Lion King at Edinburgh Playhouse.

These were distributed to some of the families in our school community who took the opportunity to attend the show that night.

Everybody who went really enjoyed the Lions as well as the amazing puppetry of animals from mice to elephants and the special effects, scenery and amazing lighting design.

Thank you to cast and crew of The Lion King for giving so many a chance to experience theatre.
