P3 Scottish Banquet

After weeks of learning about what life was like in the time of Castles, P3 planned and prepared for a traditional Scottish Banquet this week.

We made invitations for our peers, created menus for the tables, decided on what tradition Scottish foods we could have and decorated our classroom as a traditional banquet hall. We also had great fun dressing up as knights and Lords and Ladies with accessories to match.

The children practised performances in small groups to perform at the banquet and the whole class learned a tradition Scottish dance with Mrs Ewen which they performed beautifully.

It was a fantastic ending to our first fantastic topic in P3!

P3 Maths Week #MathsWeekScot

P3 have spent Maths Week Scotland learning about Position and movement.

We have learned new vocabulary to help us give and follow and draw directions.

We then applied this knowledge to program a Beebot robot to move around a grid.

For outdoor learning this week, everyone enjoyed working with their partners to create a ‘treasure hunt,’ whereby we hid 3 objects, then directed our friends to find the ‘treasure.’

P3 Authors Live Event Rachel Bright

We had the pleasure of joining a Live Authors Event with the Scottish Book Trust and BBC Learning Scotland this week

The author we listened to was Rachel Bright who wrote the books “The squirrels who squabbled” and “The Lion inside.” We enjoyed listening to her new story for the first time and had an opportunity to learn how to draw from the book’s illustrator, Jim Field!

We tweeted into the programme and had our class name and school mentioned LIVE ON AIR as they asked our question: What was her favourite story? The answer: The never-ending story.

The top it off, Rachel said our drawings of Goldie the Gecko were great!

P3D : P3 Tackle Shapes and STEM

This term in P3 we are exploring 3D shapes.  This week we took part in a partner STEM task to build 3D shapes using lollipop sticks and playdough.  I think the results are fantastic! We definitely have some budding architects in our class .
