P3a Stepping Stones

P3a have been having fun practising their times tables with stepping stones.  They made their own paper stones and numbered them.  They can choose which times table they are working on to achieve their own goals.  They are encouraged to challenge themselves by practising going backwards, mixing the stones up in a random order or beating their own time.  Pupils were also asked to make their own set for homework to allow them to have fun with maths at home.

P3a Read Write Count Launch

P3a had a blast exploring the resources in their new Read Write Count bags.  They were inspired by the books to learn new facts about animals and discover what they could measure with their new tape measure.  Pupils came in the next day excited to share how they had used the new resources at home already.  Their homework each week will give more ideas for having fun learning from their packs.  Here are some photos of some of the activities they took part in.

P2 Read Write Count Afternoon

To celebrate Book Week Scotland, P2 took part in a fun filled afternoon of literacy and numeracy activities based on the contents of their Read Write Count book bags. We had great fun playing card games, making up stories and creating a birthday cake for the character of Mole from the book ‘Rocketmole.’ We hope families enjoy these bags with their children and learn something new as well!!

P1/2 Bookbugs

P1/2 have received the fabulous Bookbug and Read Write Count bags today.

We had so much fun reading all the books and completing writing and art and craft activities related to them. P” also enjoyed trying out their story cubes and “Talk it Out” and “Act it Out” cards!

Make sure to have a look at the parent information included in the bag.

Have fun!

Brainwaves! in P5/6

Brainwaves!

P5/6 have been investigating how we learn. We are learning that our brains are incredibly flexible and that with effort and exercise, we can train them to more effective. As part of our learning, we made Brain Hats, illustrating the different areas of our brains and their functions.

Diwali in P2

To celebrate Diwali, P2 read the story of Rama and Sita, made paper Diya hanging decorations and drew Rangoli chalk patterns in the playground.  We especially enjoyed making our beautiful decorations and bringing them home to show our families.

P1/2 Diwali

We have been really busy preparing for Diwali in class this week. We used clay to make gorgeous DIya, painting them white and then decorating with colourful paints and glitters. Our Rangoli mat was a collaborative effort and looks amazing at our classroom door. One of our lovely P2 girls preformed a spectacular dance and performed a show with puppets! Well done P1/2 and Happy Diwali!
