P2 Road Safety

Primary 2 have been learning about ‘Road Safety ‘ and spent last week discussing the focus of O NEED TO SPEED, based on this year’s Road Safety Week campaign. This week, we looked at how we can ‘Be Bright Be Seen‘ during the dark winter nights and what equipment could be useful when out walking or cycling.  We had great fun in the dark classroom, using a torch to shine on different pieces of clothing and equipment to see if they would be helpful to us or not.  We hope that everyone continues to wear bright clothing when out at night, find safe places to cross the road OR use The Green Cross Code to help them.

Sumdog Superstars

A massive WELL DONE to Advik and Aashmi who came in the top 10 students in the Edinburgh Sumdog Contest last week. Fantastic!

Our P2 class also came 14th overall. A big well done to all the other successful pupils and classes from Dalry who performed brilliantly #teamdalry

(Sumdog is a maths website used by schools all over the world. Your child has an account and can use it at home as well. It adapts as they learn so only help with questions not answers or you’ll end up doing S3 maths)

P3a Stepping Stones

P3a have been having fun practising their times tables with stepping stones.  They made their own paper stones and numbered them.  They can choose which times table they are working on to achieve their own goals.  They are encouraged to challenge themselves by practising going backwards, mixing the stones up in a random order or beating their own time.  Pupils were also asked to make their own set for homework to allow them to have fun with maths at home.

P3a Read Write Count Launch

P3a had a blast exploring the resources in their new Read Write Count bags.  They were inspired by the books to learn new facts about animals and discover what they could measure with their new tape measure.  Pupils came in the next day excited to share how they had used the new resources at home already.  Their homework each week will give more ideas for having fun learning from their packs.  Here are some photos of some of the activities they took part in.

P2 Read Write Count Afternoon

To celebrate Book Week Scotland, P2 took part in a fun filled afternoon of literacy and numeracy activities based on the contents of their Read Write Count book bags. We had great fun playing card games, making up stories and creating a birthday cake for the character of Mole from the book ‘Rocketmole.’ We hope families enjoy these bags with their children and learn something new as well!!
