Road Numbers With P4 #MathsWeekScot

P4 hit the road but more with Numberjacks than Jack this week. As part of our work for maths week scotland we were surveying traffic in Dalry.

We were counting different vehicles, vehicles per minute and comparing volumes of traffic.

Maybe you could carry this on on walks to school or the shops? How many cars on the way to the shops and from the shops? Which is bigger?

P4 #MathsWeekScot Nature Numbers

Forest Schools carried on for our fours this week, but with a Maths week Scotland flavour.

Twig compasses were built and every kind of maths was found amongst the trees. We saw twig sums, spot counting leaves and lots of lovely numbers.

P4/5 Maths in the Wild #MathsWeekScot

P4/5 went down to the woods for Maths Week Scotland.

They found lots of maths when we sent them on the maths hunt amongst the trees.

There was leaf symmetry, twig counting, twig sums, branch weight and mass, tree ring age counting, and counting spots on leaves.

After the hunt we built number tic tac toe games by making 5 twig bundles to build numbers 1-9.
