Appreciation Stations

We did a lesson on ‘Looking on the Bright Side’ in P6 and P7 and the pupils made their own ‘appreciation station’.

Kaled in P6 and Prithvi in P7 were nominated to come up on stage to represent their class during assembly.

P3 Authors Live Event Rachel Bright

We had the pleasure of joining a Live Authors Event with the Scottish Book Trust and BBC Learning Scotland this week

The author we listened to was Rachel Bright who wrote the books “The squirrels who squabbled” and “The Lion inside.” We enjoyed listening to her new story for the first time and had an opportunity to learn how to draw from the book’s illustrator, Jim Field!

We tweeted into the programme and had our class name and school mentioned LIVE ON AIR as they asked our question: What was her favourite story? The answer: The never-ending story.

The top it off, Rachel said our drawings of Goldie the Gecko were great!

P4/5 Make games for P2

P4/5 designed and created games that used magnets. The pupils worked co-operatively in groups to plan, problem solve and create games that would be suitable for a P2 audience.

P4/5 then shared these games with P2. They had to explain how to use the games and support the pupils to be ensure everyone was included.

P2 were encouraged to engage with the games and think about how well the games were designed and constructed.

P4/5 planned feedback forms and supported the P2s to share their views. P2 scored each success criteria out of five and gave 2 stars and a wish.

P4/5 will write instructions for their games next week.
All pupils were fully engaged in this experience and demonstrated the school values by being: responsible, respectful, kind when supporting each other and including everyone.

Jupiter Artland Trip

Primary 5 enjoyed a wonderful creative adventure to Jupiter Art Land! We learned about art installations and sculptures in the natural environment. We used our senses to express our emotions and describe our interpretation of different types of art work. Applying what we had learned, P5 became fabulous sculptors and created their own ‘clay creatures’ using items we’d collected on our walks through the sculpture woodlands. We had a fantastic day!
