We enjoyed another lovely visit from Sally and baby Oliver came to visit. In the previous lesson we had been discussing how people are the same in many ways, but there are also many ways we are different. Also P2 discovered we all have different temperament traits and every family is unique. The children wrote letters and created drawings for Oliver telling him what is important to them. We caught up on all his news and the children enjoyed how he loved crawling all over the room and throwing the ball. Sally told us Oliver loves his food and she can’t find any food he doesn’t like. At the visit Oliver enjoyed a snack in front of the children, this enabled the children to read baby Oliver’s facial cues on how he felt about the food and when he had had enough.

P3 had a fantastic trip to the Museum on the Mound last week. We learned lots of things about money including what was used as money 100s of years ago, how to make a bank note secure and we even had the chance to make our very own coin!

Everyone had a wonderful time! 

Just before Easter P2/3 did really well to identify different types of materials as part of our science topic, we had a hunt around the playground and school. Malcolm the music teacher visited us on Monday and everyone enjoyed the singing and dancing!

Last month P2 have been discovering how babies understand long before we realise, so it is very important to communicate and respond to babies. The children thoroughly enjoyed their visit from baby Oliver and his mum, he was showing us how he communicates his feelings and wishes to his mum Sally with body gestures, facial cues and making a variety of sounds. The children sang nursery rhymes to Oliver and created a book of their drawings which was presented to Oliver, of their favourite nursery rhymes and songs. In addition P2 were learning how to read baby Oliver’s emotions and this helps us to read each other’s emotions.

The children were so excited to see how active and confident Oliver has become since his last visit. He was crawling all over the green blanket and was delighted when big sister Chloe joined us.
