P2s Complete Roots of Empathy Program

P2s in Miss Younger and Mrs Gunstone & Mrs Chadwick’s classes completed their Roots of Empathy program with instructor Mrs Harris-Toner. Each week the children enjoyed getting to know Baby Oliver and seeing how he was changing and growing. We connected with our Roots of Empathy family through regular visits and news with mum Sally and big sister Chloe.

The lessons gave the children an opportunity to share their feelings and experiences. The children especially enjoyed the art activities, learning how to look after a baby and thinking of their wishes for Baby Oliver as he grows up. Last week the children said a big thank you and fond goodbye to Oliver, Sally and Chloe. This week the children were delighted to receive their well deserved certificates.

Mini Masterclass: Construction

P2, P3 and P2/3 have been enjoying our new range of masterclasses for the younger years.

It’s been great letting the littler ones have the masterclass experience for the first time this year and visiting different classrooms, teachers and friends on a Friday.

Construction is the theme of one class using straws and plasticine and another junk modeling. Those visting had a great time and they can build on in their next masterclass.

P2 Latest Roots of Empathy News

We enjoyed another lovely visit from Sally and baby Oliver came to visit. In the previous lesson we had been discussing how people are the same in many ways, but there are also many ways we are different. Also P2 discovered we all have different temperament traits and every family is unique. The children wrote letters and created drawings for Oliver telling him what is important to them. We caught up on all his news and the children enjoyed how he loved crawling all over the room and throwing the ball. Sally told us Oliver loves his food and she can’t find any food he doesn’t like. At the visit Oliver enjoyed a snack in front of the children, this enabled the children to read baby Oliver’s facial cues on how he felt about the food and when he had had enough.
