Free Bike Schemes

There are 2 schemes we’d like to draw your attention to which can support your family in covering the cost of a bike for a child.

  1. Edinburgh City Council have launched Brake the Cycle which is a bike renovation scheme for community organisations, youth groups and schools. Pupils/families can apply online at  www.edinburgh.gov.uk/cycling-walking/brake-cycle/1
  1. The second is Bikes for Refugees which is aimed at asylum seekers or those who have been granted refugee status. An online application will need to be filled in using the following link visit www.bikesforrefugees.scot/new-scots/#request-a-bike. Once submitted they will add you to the waiting list (around 3 months for Edinburgh but is dependant upon the size of bike required matching the availability of bikes in stock.)

If you need support to read this webpage or online letter via translation into an additional language please contact the translation service using this link https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/languages
