Bee Company visit

We had a fabulous visit from Andrew the Bee Keeper and his 25,000 Scottish honey bees! We learnt so many interesting facts about these precious pollinators and even got a jar of honey and a book to take home at the end!!

Thank you so much to Mervyn, Andrew, Lucy and Claire, our friends from 9 Haymarket Square who made this visit possible.

P2a Latest Roots of Empathy News

We enjoyed another lovely visit from Miss Younger and baby Angus. In the previous lesson we had been discussing how people are the same in many ways, but there are also many ways we are different. Also P2a discovered we all have different temperament traits and every family is unique. The children wrote letters and created drawings for Angus telling him what is important to them. We learned that Angus has recently been on his first family holiday abroad and really enjoyed it. Also the children were excited that Angus now has two teeth and that he is communicating more by making lots of new sounds.

Miss Younger told us Angus loves his food and he enjoys lots of different flavours. At the visit Angus enjoyed a strawberry yogurt and a pancake in front of the children, this enabled the children to read baby Angus’s facial cues on how he felt about the food and how much he enjoyed feeding himself the pancake.

P2b’s Last Roots of Empathy session

P2b completed their Roots of Empathy program with instructor Mrs Harris-Toner. Each week the children enjoyed getting to know Baby Ammar and seeing how he was changing and growing. We connected with our Roots of Empathy family through regular visits and news with mum Zeinab and Baby Ammar. And on their last visit Ammar amazed and delighted the children by showing us he could walk around the green blanket by himself.

The lessons gave the children an opportunity to share their feelings and experiences. The children especially enjoyed the art activities, learning how to look after a baby and thinking of their wishes for Baby Ammar as he grows up. Last week the children said a big thank you and fond goodbye to Ammar and Zeinab. This week the children were delighted to receive their well deserved certificates.
