P3/4 enjoyed wearing their pyjamas for World Book Day. They took part in an Authors live event, were they listened to a story and then followed instructions on how to draw the main character. A fun morning for all!

P2A took part in lots of different activities to celebrate WBD including: being illustrators by drawing the main character of Arlo from the book ‘Arlo, the lion who couldn’t sleep,’ creating mini story books about Arlo, colouring in bookmarks with their name to use at home, doing a reading book scavenger hunt and finally our P7 buddies came by to read our bedtime stories to us. We managed not to fall asleep in our pyjamas which was a miracle!

P2b had a very busy World Book Day on Thursday. We took part in an authors live event drawing along with Emily McKenzie to draw our own Granville the Dalmatian. We enjoyed reading our favourite stories with our P7 buddies and designed our own bookmarks. We all loved coming to school in our pyjamas even though it made us all feel very sleepy!!

14. Life Below Water
A display of the winning entries is on display for everyone to admire.

We had a visit from Gert Rijsdijk, Senior Transport Officer CEC and an artist Shona Hardie on Monday at assembly. They shared information about the exciting community project that we are part of to improve safe travel to school, and to improve the area surrounding the school entrances.
We are all very excited to see the positive difference that this will make to our school community.
This month P2a is has been finding out about how babies sleep and how important sleep is for the baby and parents. We had a visit from baby Angus and his mum Miss Younger and the children were excited to see Angus and see how much he is grown since we last weighed and measured him last year. We noticed he was playing more with the toys, had a stronger grip and was trying really hard to reach for the toys. Miss Younger shared with the children Angus’s sleep pattern, that he is sleeping longer and only waking up twice in the night for a feed. Also, he enjoys all his toys and doesn’t have a favourite yet. The children discovered that Angus is doing a lot of growing and needs more sleep than the P2s need, and we all have different bedtime routines to help us have a good sleep.
P2a really enjoyed learning about the different sleep cycles of REM and non-REM sleep and the different transitional objects that soothe babies and help them sleep. The children have enjoyed sharing their experiences and how they sleep and their favourite toy or blanket that helps them to fall sleep. In addition the children discovered how parents safely put their babies down to sleep on their backs, how temperament and routine is different for every baby.
