Well done Rishon!
We yet again had lots of pupils find great success in the chess tournaments continuing under COVID 19.
Thanks as always to our team and great volunteer chess organisers.
COVID 19 security measures can’t keep Dalry’s chess stars from performing. Last week Rishon in P7 won his latest medal in an online tournament of over 40 participants.
Well done Rishon.
The Lothian Junior Congress Chess Tournament took place over the weekend and there was more fabulous success for team Dalry.
Our team won second place!! The initial ranking for our team was 8th position, but they finished 2nd after 6 rounds of play.
Many thanks to our chess tutors, Mr Good and Mr Hynd, and to Mr Ashly for supplying the photos.
Massive Congratulations to our tournament team members Rishon, Thanish, Jeric and Ishaan!
Two of our chess stars, Jeric and Rishon, have been bringing home more medals for high placings in tournaments they attend with their out of school chess club.
Well done boys.
Congratulations to Kevin and Dominik in P7 and all their teammates in the Maradonna 2007s team at Salvesen Community Football Club.
They attended a youth football tournament in Ayr recently, and won!
Here is more info on the club website.
Well done Kevin and Dominik.
Congratulations to Rozalia in P4 for winning an Edinburgh wide maths contest on the learning game Sumdog.
In the contest the 3509 entrants from across the city had a week to answer 1000 maths questions.
Rozalia came first by answering an amazing 970 questions correctly.
Rozalia has won a certificate for her amazing achievement as well as 6 months of free Sumdog for her class!
Congratulations Rozalia!
Also well done to our other top 50 stars Juan in P3/4 who came 46th and Nell in P4 who came 49th.
Also well done to Akshaj, Samarth, Shriya and Harshu who all made the top 100.
P4 also made it to 10th placed class overall.
All children at Dalry have access to a Sumdog account they can use in school and at home on PCs and tablets. The programme learns their maths ability and tailors the learning to each child. So if you haven’t seen Sumdog yet get your child to login at www.Sumdog.com (just remember not to help them with the answers! If you do it’ll keep giving them harder questions up to S3 level!)
Next week there is a national Sumdog contest. Let’s hope that all the great Sumdog stars at Dalry can do well there too.
Here a few more pictures of her picking up her certificate.
