P3 Learn about Japan

P3a were given the opportunity to try on a real Japanese kimono and try out some Japanese games.

As it was so hot, we created a comparison poster about school life in Japan and Scotland outside in the playground.

P4 Canopic Pics

P4 have been learning about Ancient Egypt, they requested to carry out the mummification process – we used apples instead!

As part of this process the Ancient Egyptians put the lungs, intestines, stomach and liver in canopic jars.

The pupils asked to make their own jars, for this we used clay.  In the lesson the pupils learnt about how and why the Ancient Egyptians used the canopic jars as well as how to work with clay. Next, the pupils will design their lids for the jars choosing from a baboon, human, jackal or falcon.

P3b Chinese Culture Week Fun

The pupils took part in a great many activities during Chinese Cultural week and at the end of it, showcased some of their learning during an assembly. The children planned, prepared and performed the story of the Chinese Zodiac to pupil’s in Primary 2 and 4.

Well done to everyone for such a team effort and confident performance! We had some awesome narrators using scripts, amazing actors wearing masks that they had designed and made themselves and a props department who created a wonderful river and signs.

A special mention goes to Allan who had to step in at the very last minute to play the part of the Jade Emperor and did a brilliant job!
