Children as Human Rights Defenders Project

Last school year, as part of the Children as Human Rights Defenders project, which leds up to the participation of Members of Children’s Parliament in the UN Day of General Discussion 2018, P5 (then P4) took part in a children’s right workshop. Many of these happened across Scotland.

Thanks to Children’s Parliament for organising and sharing the video of this event.

P2a People Who Help Us

P2A are beginning their new topic and are very excited!

We have started to learn about “People who Help Us”. We have lots of dressing up clothes, are planning lots of excellent drama activities and are looking forward to learning more about what to do in a an emergency.

As well as this we are also planning to look at other people who help us every day as part of their jobs. The children are coming up with new ideas every day – make sure to ask them all about it.

P3 Health Week walk

In health week  primary 3 had a lovely walk along the canal and a play in Harrison Park during health week. We all enjoyed getting up close to nature and being out in the fresh air!

P4 At Wagamama

P4 attended a food workshop at Wagamama.

They learnt how Wagamama prepared food and drinks and had a tour of the whole restaurant to learn about health and safety when working with food.  They also got to learn about and experience how to make healthy food and drink.  They liked the tasting part most of all!

In class pupils will be using all they learnt to create leaflets for how to prepare food safely at Wagamamas.

P4 Set the Scenes

P4 went outdoors to learn about how to create a setting for their stories. They worked in teams problem solving how to create an interesting setting and a story line for their characters.

They then took notes of interesting words to describe what they could see, hear, feel and smell.

Using these notes they wrote some sentences to describe their setting in an interesting way.
