Last Week we had the fun of celebrating Christmas with one of our unique school traditions. The Christmas Clan event!
In our Clan events the children are mixed across age groups in teams from their clan. They then visit all the teachers from their clan to do different crafting activities.

Mrs Honeyman enjoyed a visit from P1a and the staff who work with them. They were joined by our newly appointed Clan Chiefs and Deputes who were giving our newest pupils a tour of our school.

We are busy preparing for our yearly elections for Clan Chiefs (P7) and Clan Deputes (P6).
Our P6 and P7 teachers are currently preparing the children for the application and election process. All P6s and P7s are eligible to run for their clan chief or depute position and we believe that taking part can be an enriching experience for all who do.
Watch out for news on the election as it progresses.

Before the half term holidays Dalry Primary was experiencing election fever as the annual vote to choose our Clan Chiefs and Deputes arrived.
Our Elected Representatives for 2021-22
In the weeks before polling day the candidates wrote and performed amazing video hustings speeches and produced brilliant campaign posters. Many staff commented that this election was the hardest and most passionately fought in their time at Dalry. Each morning before school and at break and lunch candidates were seen canvassing for support and waving banners.
Dalry democracy has never been healthier.
Our election day results were announced by Mr Linton and P6 who put on a brilliant election day special assembly teams call.
It was only last week that Mrs Honeyman was able to present the successful candidates with their official badges of office. So now that they have their proper accoutrements of office let us present the Chiefs and Deputes for 2021-22
Alba
Clan Chief Maya and Depute Lucy
Caledonia
Depute Enea and Chief Kavi
Dalriada
Depute Aaliya and Chief Akshyata
Scotia
Depute Safa and Chief Alysha
Congratulations to all our great candidates successful and unsuccessful.

Today our clan chiefs and deputes held a council with some members of the parent and carer’s council.
If you are interested in being active in the parent council the next meeting is very soon. Also several posts are urgently needing to be filled to allow the council to function.

Over the two weeks before autumn break Dalry was busy with our yearly elections.
We would normally have 2 assemblies featuring hustings but thanks to COVID-19 this year we had to do video hustings. All candidates had written passionate speeches putting forth their reasons for standing and the attributes and policies that would make them good for their role.
Any of our amazing candidates would have brought something special to the role, we were truly impressed with the way each and every candidate conducted their campaigns and we congratulate all of them on the hard work, thought and effort that led to the hustings and elections.
After these 2 weeks of campaigning via poster and video election day arrived.
Again this was unusual! We would normally have announced this at assembly but this year that was impossible, so Mr Linton and P5/6 stepped up to make the day extra special by running an election count themed announcement over teams.
Scenes at both the count and in classes were electric.
“The Dalry Christmas Clan Craft Event” took place this week with the children touring the school over the day, in clan groups of mixed ages, to produce some amazing christmas crafts.
At the end of the day we gathered in the hall and each clan showed their work to the others.
