Our Chess Stars Have A Great Tournament

Our Chess Stars were in action at another tournament last weekend.

Congratulations to all!


Our mentors, Stewart and Bill, sent the following report.

Edinburgh Junior Congress – St George’s School, 26 November.

In 4 tournaments, 95 competed for 6 rounds, including:-

OPEN SECONDARY & PRIMARY (17) 

3rd Vedanth 4.5 – Trophy. Beat S2 Raghuram, ex Dalry.

PRIMARY Under 900 (20)

4th Alden 4 – Trophy. Won first 3. Beat 2nd, only lost to 1st & 3rd.

PRIMARY Under 300 (33)

5th Ayush 4 – Trophy. Won first 4 in first event. Only lost to 1st & 2nd.

7th Johan 4 – Medal. Beat 3rd, only lost to 1st & 4th.

8th Vidhaan 4 – Medal. Only lost to 2nd & Johan.

13th Prithvi 3.5 – Medal. Ended with 3 wins & draw.

Excellent results, won 3 trophies & 3 medals. All enjoyed event!

Chess Success Again!

Vedanth succeeded in another tournament, the Lothian Junior Championship (LJC) on Saturday at St George’s School in Edinburgh.

The tournament was organised by Chess Scotland. It was a Primary Individual Championship.

Vedanth was ranked 1 at the start of the tournament out of 24 players. He played 6 rounds out of which his results were 5 Wins,1 Draw and 0 Loss. He retained his first position and shared his first prize with another player at the end of all rounds.

More Chess Success!

 Vedanth has added yet another success to his chess cap.

He participated in a chess tournament on Saturday in Glasgow. It was over the board tournament.

The tournament was organised by Chess Scotland and was a Primary Individual Championship.

Vedanth was ranked 12 at the start of the tournament out of 38. He played 5 rounds out of which his results were 3 Wins,1 Draw and 1 Loss. He finished 6th at the end of all rounds and he won first place in P5 & Under Category

Yet More Amazing Chess News!

Vedanth in P4 received a trophy for achieving 3rd place in the P5 & Under category in the Chess Scotland Primary Individual Championship 2021 tournament. He competed against 100 participants playing against children of all ages till P7 and was 12th overall in spite of being up to 3 years younger than some competitors.

MAJOR Chess Success, Dalry Tops Scotland Table

Our chess team has scored a major success, topping the Scottish table in the mega finals of a prestigious competition and leading a field including such Edinburgh Schools as South Morningside, Corstorphine, Fettes and George Watsons.

The team were playing online in the Delancey UK schools championship, a UK wide contest.

In the whole UK rankings Dalry Primary were placed 49th.

2 of our players, Rishon and Alden have now qualified for the upcoming gigafinals.
