P6A took part in a DNA Extraction workshop at the National Museum of Scotland. Our task was to extract DNA from a strawberry.
We were able to dress like real scientists and with the support of the group leader, successfully extracted DNA from a strawberry.
We had the opportunity to use a range of equipment we had never used before and were also presented with different ethical dilemmas related to the topic of DNA.
P6A really enjoyed this experimental side of science and we managed to build on our knowledge of how scientists can alter and change DNA today.
